If you’ve ever met me through The Hundreds, you should know I’m a “behind the scenes” guy.
I’ve been on board for half of the time the company has existed (ill let you do the math), and haven’t had a business card for the past 3 years. I also hate talking on the phone, and usually scribble my info horribly on a post it for you if you REALLY need to get a hold of me. So, as dorky as it sounds this is a bit of a big step for me.

if you’ve read Bobbys post on “10 more things you didn’t know about the hundreds “, you’ll see our business cards are all based on the Pantone color mixing system fan.
Well, a while back, Vito and I, while visiting a printer, saw most likely the worst Pantone fan known to man.
I mean, really, it looked like a truck full of elephant dung ran it over. and it was still being used.
…so when it came time for my cards, I remembered the grossest fan ever, and use it in the design.
I mean, its not fun if you don’t get a little messy, right?

Im happy with the outcome

Alyshanett came through the office and pretty much called me out for not having a pizza, nachos, or burger tattoo. It’s been time for some new ink,…

… and Pat hates cardboard trout love. He literally tried tossing one of these lovebirds (trouts) in the trash.

k back to work.

Spent the day in the beautiful city of Santa Monica.
We have a shop out there, but you might not know is we have a little design office away from design office kind of thing going on there. It’s great to escape and actually get real work done.
…and it doesn’t hurt that theres a umami burger right across the street. Gotta love the hot sauce on the side.

I try to use a lot of texture when I’m working in photoshop. Especially with digital painting, it gives it a much more “human” touch to it.
I try to stay away from online textures as much as possible, and try to shoot/scan my own. Anything from old zip-a-tone sheets, to crappy construction paper, brick, scrap wood, cardboard,.. you might not notice, but exists in a lot of what I do.
I try to take as many photos as I can of my own textures, and today was a “lets collect some new stuff around the neighborhood” day with Ducky.
Also, kind of unrelated, we picked up a 1.7/f 20mm lens for Duckys micro four thirds cam. Great lil’ lens.

I have a big problem with being a Negative Nancy. I’m pretty bad at it.
But i’m trying. It actually makes me realize that whole “it takes strength to be gentle and kind” line meant a little more than its OK to be a wuss.
see what I mean?
